TRADITIONAL BRAISED TVP

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Bring p a pot of water to the boil over moderate heat.
  • Add TVP and boil until tender. Remove, wash under cold water and squeeze to dry. Put aside.
  • In a mortar, pound coriander roots finely. Add black peppercorn and ginger, pound to a fine paste and put aside.
  • Put coconut milk into a pan; bring to a boil over moderate heat.
  • Sauté the pounded mixture until fragrant, add five Chinese spices powder and stir to mix well.
  • Season to taste with both sugar, seasoning sauce, light soy sauce and sweet dark soy sauce then add the remaining coconut milk.
  • Put in TVP and toss to coat. Reduce to low heat, cover. Simmer until the sauce. Turn off the heat.
  • Dip out into a serving dish.
  • Attractively arrange assorted vegetables on the side.

INGREDIENTS

  • 150 grams large-sized textured vegetable protein(TVP)
  • 4 coriander roots
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorn
  • 3 tablespoons mature ginger, cut into small pieces
  • 250 ml coconut milk
  • 3 teaspoons five Chinese's powder
  • 1 tablespoon palm sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unbleached sugar
  • 1 tablespoon seasoning sauce
  • 3 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons sweet dark soy sauce 
  • Fresh vegetables: lettuce and coriander leaves
  • Boiled vegetables: carrot and potato, cut into pieces.
