CHEESE CHOWDER

Preparation Time :
45 minutes

Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Melt the butter in a pan, add the onion, carrot, celery, salt, paprika and dry mustard and fry, covered, for 5 minutes.
  • Blend in the flour, cook for 1 minute, then stir in the chicken soup and milk.
  • Bring the chowder to the boil, stirring, then simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the cheese, cook for 1 minute, and then serve with warm French bread.
  • Serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams butter
  • 2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 small carrot, finely chopped
  • 4 sticks celery, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon each salt, paprika and dry mustard
  • 2 tablespoon plain flour
  • 1 kg cream of chicken soup
  • 600 ml skimmed milk
  • 100 grams mature Cheddar cheese, grated
