WELSH COCKLE PIE
Searching for the most delicious seafood is finally over! With welsh cockle pie; you can fully enjoy your meal along with family. This dish consists of butter, fresh milk, streaky bacon, plain flour, white wine, fresh chives, cooked cockles and other ingredients.

- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan, add the bacon and onion and cook for 5 minutes, until softened.
- Add the flour and cook for a further minute, stirring.
- Remove from the heat and gradually stir in the milk.
- Bring to the boil, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens, boils and is smooth.
- Add the cockles, wine and chives. Season to taste and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Turn the mixture into a pie dish. Mix together the breadcrumbs and grated cheese.
- Sprinkle on top of the mixture.
- Cook under a hot grill for 5 minutes, until golden brown.
- Accompany with a salad.
INGREDIENTS
- 15 grams butter
- 100 grams streaky bacon, rinded and chopped
- ½ medium onion, skinned and chopped
- 25 grams plain flour
- 250 ml fresh milk
- 500 ml cooked cockles
- 25ml dry white wine
- 25 ml snipped fresh chives
- Salt and pepper
- 50 grams fresh whole meal breadcrumbs
- 50 grams Caerphilly cheese, grated
