Preparation Method :
- Marinate the fish in salt and a little turmeric powder for about half an hour. Drain and fry till golden brown on both sides.
- Heat a little oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds. When they splutter, add the ground masala and fry till the oil separates.
- Add the sliced and chopped ingredients with vinegar, salt and fried fish. Bring to a boil, remove from flame. Leave aside to cool.
- Preserve in a clean jar and consume within one week.
INGREDIENTS
- 100 ml Weak vinegar
- 1.5 kg Mackerels, cleaned, incised, rinsed and drained
- 20 - 22 cloves Garlic, sliced
- 2 " piece Ginger, minced
- 12-14 Green chillies, cut lengthwise
- ½ tablespoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- Cooking oil to fry
- Salt to taste
Grind to a fine paste with little vinegar
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds
- 5-6 Long chillies
- 10 - 12 Short chillies
