SAVOURY FISH PRESERVE

Makes :
1 Jar

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Cooking Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish with salt in a wooden bowl for a day. Remove the fish slices, wipe dry with a clean cloth and dry for 2-3 days.
  • Add the vinegar to the ground masala paste and mix well. Dip each slice of fish in the vinegar mixture till well-coated and place in a clean glass jar, one slice over another.
  • Pour the remaining vinegar mixture on top of the fish. Cover with a vinegar-proof tight fitting lid.
  • Remove the fish pieces and fry in hot oil and serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 400 ml Weak vinegar
  • 1 kg Seer fish, cleaned, cut into thin slices and rinsed  
  • 100 grams Salt    

Grind to a fine paste with little vinegar    

  • 60 grams Garlic    
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds    
  • 10 - 12 Long dry chillies    
  • 12 - 15 Short dry chillies
  • Small ball Tamarind    
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
