Preparation Method :
- Combine all the ingredients except butter and essence in a heavy-based saucepan.
- Cook, stirring until the mixture thickens over low heat for about 15-20 minutes.
- Remove from the heat, stir in the butter and vanilla until smooth.
- Butterscotch sauce can be kept refrigerated for a month.
