Preparation Method :
- Mix the mashed potatoes with all the other ingredients and the ground spices in a bowl until smooth. Divide it into 10-12 equal portions and set aside.
- Take one portion of the potato mixture, grease your hands and shape it into a ball. Flatten each ball into a patty.
- Heat the oil on a flat griddle or frying pan over a low-medium heat. Fry each potato cake for about 3-5 minutes or until golden and crispy, turning once.
- Finish with finely sliced red onion and freshly chopped coriander.
- Serve hot with Mint and Yogurt Chutney.
INGREDIENTS
- 225 grams potatoes, washed, boiled, peeled and mashed
- ½ onion, finely chopped
- 2 slices white bread, blitzed to breadcrumbs
- 3 teaspoon lemon juice
- Freshly ground black pepper and salt, to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Cooking oil, for shallow frying
- Red onion, finely sliced
- Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
Ground Spices
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 3-4 chillies
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- Dry Roasted and Coarsely Ground
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- ½ teaspoon coriander seeds
