- Peel and coarsely chop the tomatoes. Put the tomatoes, garlic, herbs and oil in a blender and blend to a puree.
- Heat the sauce gently in a pan to boiling point, then add salt and pepper to taste.
- Meanwhile cook the pasta in plenty of boiling salted water until tender but still firm to the bite - 8 to 10 minutes.
- Drain well and toss immediately with the sauce.

- 16 basil leaves, chopped

- 500 gram spaghetti or vermicelli
