PASTA PIE

Preparation Method :

  • Preheat oven to moderate 180°C.
  • Add the macaroni to a large pan of rapidly boiling water and cook until just tender. Drain thoroughly. Spread evenly over the base of a 5 cm deep casserole dish.
  • Heat oil in a large pan. Add sliced onion and stir over low heat until tender. Add chopped pancetta to pan and cook for 3-5 minutes. Add ham to mixture and stir well. Remove from heat; allow to cool.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, chives, salt and pepper. Add cheddar cheese, chopped bocconcini and the pancetta mixture; stir well.
  • Spread evenly over top of macaroni. Bake for 40 minutes or until mixture is set.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams macaroni 
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 1 onion, sliced 
  • 125 grams pancetta, chopped 
  • 125 grams ham, chopped 
  • 4 eggs 
  • 200 ml milk
  • 250 ml thickened or pouring cream
  • 2 tablespoons snipped fresh chives 
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste 
  • 200 grams freshly grated cheddar cheese 
  • 125 grams bocconcini (approximately 4), chopped
