BAKED MEATBALLS AND PASTA

Preparation Method :

  • Add macaroni to a large pan of rapidly boiling water and cook until just tender. Drain, set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine mince, onion, breadcrumbs, parmesan, basil and egg. Form heaped teaspoonsful into small balls.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan. Add meatballs and cook until well browned. Drain on paper towels. Transfer to an ovenproof dish. Preheat oven to moderate 180°C.
  • To make Sauce : Add onion and garlic to same pan; stir over low heat until onion is tender. Add capsicum and mushrooms; cook 2 minutes.
  • Stir in tomato paste. Add combined water and wine to pan. Bring to boil, stirring. Mix in macaroni, salt and pepper. Pour over top of meatballs.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with combined mozzarella cheese and breadcrumbs. Bake for another 10- 12 minutes or until golden.

  • 100 grams macaroni 
  • 500 grams beef mince
  • 1 onion, finely chopped 
  • 120 grams fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons freshly grated parmesan cheese 
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 200 grams freshly grated mozzarella cheese 
  • 120 ml fresh breadcrumbs Sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 capsicum, seeded and sliced 
  • 125 grams mushrooms, sliced 
  • 50 grams tomato paste 
  • 200ml water 
  • 120 ml red wine 
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
