RED CABBAGE WITH APPLE

Red Cabbage with Apple is such an extraordinary dish because of its toothsome ingredients which include brown sugar, red cabbage, onions, apples, corn flour, malt vinegar and salt! This is really a lip-smacking dish to prepare for your family!

30 minutes

Cooking Time :
50 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Put the shredded cabbage into a 9 cups dish. Add half the boiling water and 1 teaspoon of the salt.
  • Cover and cook on Full for 10 minutes, turning the dish 3 times.
  • Stir well, then mix in the remaining boiling water and remaining salt, the onions, apples, sugar and caraway seeds.
  • Cover with clingfilm (plastic wrap) and slit it to allow steam to escape.
  • Cook on Full for 20 minutes, turning the dish 4 times. Remove from the microwave.
  • Mix the cornflour smoothly with the vinegar and cold water.
  • Add to the hot cabbage and mix well. Cook, uncovered, on Full for 12 minutes, stirring 4 times. Leave until cold before chilling overnight.
  • To serve, recover with fresh clingfilm and slit it to allow steam to escape, then heat on Full for 6 minutes before serving.
  • Transfer a portion to side plates and cover each with kitchen paper, then reheat individually on Full for 1 - 2 minutes each.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons light soft brown sugar
  • 1 kg red cabbage, trimmed and finely shredded
  • 500 ml boiling water
  • 3 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cooking apples, peeled and grated
  • ½ teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 2 tablespoons corn flour
  • 3 tablespoons malt vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
