NEW ENGLAND FISH CHOWDER

The New England fish chowder is good in different occasions. It has bacon rashers and hot cream milk. It is really good to your appetite. The taste of the fish fillets was there every bite. This dish needs only 20 minutes. It is convenient and can give you a full and perfect meal!

Preparation Method :

  • Place the bacon in a 10 cup bowl. Add the onion and cook, uncovered for 5 minutes.
  • Mix the cornflour smoothly with the water and stir into the bowl. Mix in the potatoes and half the hot milk. Cook, uncovered for 5 minutes, stirring three times.
  • Mix in the remaining milk and cook, uncovered for another 2 minutes. Add the fish with the nutmeg and season to taste.
  • Cover with a plate and cook for 2 minutes until the fish is tender. Ladle into deep bowls and eat straight away.

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 streaky bacon rashers (slices),coarsely chopped
  • 1 large onion, peeled and grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 500 grams potatoes, cut into small cubes
  • 900 ml hot full-cream milk
  • 500 grams firm white fish fillets, skinned and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
