BROWN BREAD SAUCE

Preparation Method :

  • Pour the milk into a 4 cups dish. Add the bouquet garni, bay leaf, onion, parsley and nutmeg.
  • Cover and boil on Defrost, for at least 6 minutes. Keep covered and allow to cool to lukewarm. Strain.
  • Add the crumbs. Cook, uncovered, on Defrost until thickened, for about 4-6 minutes and stirring every minute.
  • Mix in the butter or margarine and season to taste. Reheat, uncovered, on Defrost for 1 minute.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 ml milk
  • 1 bouquet garni sachet
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 small onion, peeled and quartered
  • 2 large parsley sprigs
  • ¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons fresh breadcrumbs from crustless brown bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
