SHEPHERD'S PIE

Serves :

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Cooking Time :
25 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Place the meat in a deep dish. Thoroughly mix in the onion and flour. Cook, uncovered, on Full for about 6 minutes. Break up the meat with a fork.
  • Add the water and crumble in the stock cube. Stir well to mix. Cover with clingfilm and slit it to allow steam to escape.
  • Cook on Full for 15 minutes, turning the dish 3 -  4 times. Cool to lukewarm, then transfer to a 5 cups greased pie dish.
  • Top with hot mashed potato creamed with butter or margarine and hot milk.
  • Season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Spread over the meat mixture, then rough up with a fork. Reheat, uncovered, on Full for 4 minutes or brown under a hot grill.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams lean lamb mince
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 750 grams hot mashed potato
  • 500 ml hot water
  • 75 ml hot milk
  • 1 beef stock cube
  • 1 onion, grated
  • Salt to taste
