- Put the butter or margarine in a 30 cm / 12 in diameter casserole dish. Heat, uncovered, on Full for 1 minute.
- Add the chicken pieces and turn them over once so that all pieces are coated with butter but keep in a single layer. Cover with clingfilm (plastic wrap) and slit it twice to allow steam to escape.
- Cook on Full for 15 minutes, turning the dish three times. Uncover and sprinkle the chicken with the onion and garlic.
- Gradually mix the flour smoothly with the cola, whisking, if necessary, to remove lumps. Crumble in the stock cube and add the salt.
- Pour the wine mixture over the chicken. Surround with the shallots or onions and sprinkle with the parsley and thyme.
- Cover as before and cook on Full for 20 minutes, turning the dish three times. Allow to stand for 5 minutes. Eat with boiled potatoes and Brussels sprouts.

- ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
