GREEK PITTAS

Greek Pittas is loaded with its healthy ingredients like butter, whole meal flour, salt, lukewarm water and many more! So this microwave recipe is a must-have recipe to serve with your family! It’s no wonder many would want to prepare this food to make a simple day a special one!
Makes :
1 Loaf

Preparation Time :
40 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Warm, uncovered, on Defrost for 1 minute. Add the yeast and rub in the fat.
  • Mix to a dough with the water. Knead on a floured surface until smooth, elastic and no longer sticky. Return to the cleaned and dried but now lightly greased bowl.
  • Cover the bowl with clingfilm and slit it to allow steam to escape. Warm on Defrost for 1½ minutes. Rest in the microwave for 6 minutes.
  • Repeat 3 - 4 times until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Divide into four equal pieces and knead each lightly into a ball. Roll into ovals.
  • Dust lightly with the flour. Dampen the edges with water. Fold each in half by bringing the top edge over the bottom.
  • Press the edges well together to seal. Place on a greased and floured baking sheet.
  • Bake straight away in a conventional oven at 230°C / 450°F / gas mark 8 for 25 minutes or until the loaves are well risen and a deep golden brown.
  • Cool on a wire rack. Leave until just cold, then split open and eat with other foods.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams half white and half wholemeal flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 sachet easy-blend dried yeast 
  • 2 tablespoons butter, margarine or lard
  • 300 ml lukewarm water
