CARAWAY SEED BREAD

Caraway Seed Bread can be made by placing it inside the microwave! This is simple irresistible that you can’t help looking at it! The time set in cooking it would last for only fifteen minutes, while preparing for it would take for about 30 minutes.
Makes :
1 Loaf

Preparation Time :
30 minutes

Cooking Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Warm, uncovered, on Defrost for 1 minute. Add the yeast and rub in the fat.
  • Mix to a dough with the water. Knead on a floured surface until smooth, elastic and no longer sticky. Return to the cleaned and dried but now lightly greased bowl.
  • Cover the bowl with clingfilm and slit it to allow steam to escape. Warm on Defrost for 1 ½ minutes. Rest in the microwave for 6 minutes.
  • Repeat 3 - 4 times until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Knead lightly after the first rising, then shape into a ball. Put into a 450 ml / ¾ pt / 2 cups straight-sided greased round dish.
  • Cover with kitchen paper and warm on Defrost for 1 minute. Allow to rest for 4 minutes.
  • Repeat three or four times until the dough has doubled in size.
  • Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt and/or extra caraway seeds.
  • Cover with kitchen paper and cook on Full for 5 minutes, turning the dish once. Cook on Full for a further 2 minutes.
  • Leave for 15 minutes, then carefully turn out on to a wire rack.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams half white and half wholemeal flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons caraway seeds 
  • 1 sachet easy-blend dried yeast 
  • 2 tablespoons butter, margarine or lard
  • 300 ml lukewarm water
