MULLED WINE

Preparation Method :

  • Place claret, lemon juice, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a microwavable bowl or jug, cover and heat on High for 8 - 10 minutes, stir, then heat for another 6 minutes or until boiling.
  • Place a wire cooling rack over bowl or jug and arrange sugar cubes in a circle.
  • Warm brandy in a microwavable jug, bowl or cup on High for 20 - 30 seconds.
  • Quickly pour hot brandy over sugar and ignite with a taper. The sugar will dissolve, drip into the wine and sweeten.
  • Add orange and lemon slices and mix to combine. Ladle into mugs or glasses containing a metal teaspoon to prevent cracking.

  • 125 grams sugar cubes
  • 3 tablespoons brandy
  • 2 litres claret
  • 100 ml lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 6 cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
