TRADITIONAL COTTAGE PIE

Stop craving for something new! With traditional cottage pie, your food cravings will set aside. This menu is made of beef dripping, softened butter, garden peas, Worcester sauce and tasty added ingredients. No doubt people love this because of its palatable and worth-remembering flavorings.

Preparation Method :

  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 5/l90°C/375°F
  • Melt the dripping in a large saucepan and fry the beef for atleast 10 minutes.
  • Add the onions, carrots and rosemary, fry for further 5 minutes, and season it with salt and pepper.
  • Add the flour and cook for further 2 more minutes.
  • Add the stock very slowly.
  • Finally, add the Worcester sauce and tomato puree and cook for further 25 minutes, stir it every 4 minutes.
  • Blend in the peas and allow the mixture to cool.
  • Blend the mashed potato and carrot together with a knob of butter and season it with salt and pepper.
  • Place the filling mixture in a deep pie dish and cover it with the warm mashed potato and carrot, spread it evenly.
  • Dot it with the softened butter and bake in the centre of the oven for 30 minutes.

INGREDIENTS

  • 25 grams beef dripping
  • 500 grams roughly minced beef or leftover finely chopped meat
  • 2 large onions, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and finely diced
  • A pinch of fresh rosemary
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
  • 50 grams plain flour
  • 275 ml Basic Beef Stock
  • 1 tablespoon Worcester sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato puree
  • 100 grams garden peas 550 grams peeled ,boiled and mashed potatoes
  • 100 grams carrots, peeled, chopped, boiled and pureed
  • 25 grams of  softened butter
