- Prepare the pie crust. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until softened, 5 minutes.
- Add the beef and sauté until browned, 5 minutes. Add the stock, cornstarch, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper and simmer until thickened.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C/gas 7). Grease four 5- inch (13-cm) pie pans. Roll the dough out on a work surface to 1/8 inch (3 mm) thick.
- Cut out four pastry rounds. Line the bases and sides of the pans. Cut out four slightly larger lids and set aside.
- Fill the pies with the filling. Brush the edges with water and cover with the lids. Press the edges with a fork to seal. Make small holes in the centre of each pie. Brush with egg.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until the pastry is puffed and golden brown. Serve hot with ketchup.
