LASAGNE

This recipe usually prepared during Christmas season. It can be easily prepared and the ingredients are very easy to find. Usually ingredients are olive oil, best butter, carrots, peeled and chopped, celery stalk, washed and finely chopped, bay leaves, fillet or sirloin of beef, roughly minced, Marsala, button mushrooms wiped and sliced, quantity Italian sauce, dried lasagne, quantity veloute and most importantly grated parmesan cheese.

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the olive oil and butter in a large saucepan. Sauté the carrot, shallots, celery and bay leaves.
  • Add the beef and mix all together, stirring and cooking for 5 minutes.
  • Pour in the Marsala and simmer until the wine is completely evaporated.
  • Add the mushrooms and Italian Sauce, boil it and then let the mixture simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 7/220°C/425°F.
  • Put the strips of lasagne in a large pot of boiling, salted water with a little oil.
  • Cook until they are slightly soft, remove from the water and drain well.
  • Grease the bottom of a baking dish and cover it with a layer of pasta.
  • Spoon over some meat sauce, then some Veloute, ensuring that the pasta is completely covered.
  • Repeat the process until the dish is full, ending with the Veloute.
  • Sprinkle the Parmesan over the top and bake in the centre of the oven for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 25 grams best butter
  • 1 medium-sized carrot, peeled and chopped
  • 9 shallots, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 celery stalk, washed and finely chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 750 grams fillet or sirloin of beef, roughly minced
  • 50 ml Marsala
  • 100 grams button mushrooms, wiped and sliced 
  • 1 quantity Italian Sauce 
  • 450 grams dried lasagne 
  • Extra butter 
  • 1 quantity Veloute 
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
