CHILI CON CARNE

- Put the beef, onion, garlic, chili powder, tomato puree and water in a casserole and bring to the boil.
- Cover and simmer gently for 1 ½ hours, skimming the tat oft occasionally.
- Add the red kidney beans, salt and pepper and simmer for a further 10 minutes. Skim off the fat with a spoon.
- Serve at once with brown rice.

- 750 grams lean minced beef
- 100 grams onion, peeled and sliced
- 2 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
- 4 teaspoons chili powder
- 4 tablespoons tomato puree
- 500 ml water
- 500 grams red kidney beans, drained
- Salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
