BEEF CURRY WITH POTATOES

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a large pan, add the onions and fry until lightly browned.
  • Add the garlic, chilli powder, cumin, ground coriander with ginger and cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add little water if the mixture becomes dry.
  • Add the cubes of beef and cook, stirring, until browned all over. Stir in the tomato puree with enough water to cover the meat.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and bring to the boil.
  • Simmer to low flame, cook, covered for about 45-50 minutes or until the meat is almost tender.
  • Add the potatoes and whole chillies and cook until the potatoes are cooked.

INGREDIENTS

  • 800 grams stewing steak, cubed
  • 350 grams small new potatoes
  • 20 grams ground coriander
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 50 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 4 green chilies
  • Chili powder and Salt, to taste
