BALTI BEEF

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a heavy-based frying pan or wok, add the onion and fry until soft.
  • Add the ground coriander, turmeric, ginger, garlic and chilli, stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes. Add little water if the mixture becomes dry.
  • Add the steak and stir-fry until browned all over. Add the chopped pepper, then cover and cook over a low heat for 10-12 minutes or until the meat is tender.
  • Add the tomatoes, lemon juice and salt to taste and cook, uncovered, for 3-5 minutes. Serve hot, garnished with fresh coriander.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams frying steak, cut into thick strips
  • 1 green or red pepper, cored, deseeded and roughly chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 inch piece fresh root ginger, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric
  • 1-2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 red chilli, chopped
  • 1 yellow chilli, chopped
  • 50 ml lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves, to garnish
