BURGER BAPS

End up your meat food cravings with Tom’s cheesy burger baps. This dish is made up of strong white flour, dried milk powder, white shortening, Cheddar cheese, fresh yeast, poppy seeds and other seasonings. These perfect ingredients enrich its flavors and aroma.

1 hour 30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Sift the flour, milk powder and salt together into a large clean glass or china bowl.
  • Add the sugar, shortening and cheese, blend them together thoroughly.
  • Dissolve the yeast with 350ml warm water. Add this to the flour ingredients and mix them well for 5 minutes.
  • Cover the dough with a warm damp cloth and place in a very warm area for 50 minutes.
  • Lightly grease 3 baking trays. Divide the mixture into 12-14 small balls, or 8 large balls for larger baps.
  • Place them at least 7.5cm apart on the trays , gently push into a burger bun shape.
  • Cover again with warm damp cloths and place in a warm area for a further 40 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 7/220°C/425°F.
  • Remove the cloths carefully, glaze the tops with the egg and milk, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and bake in the centre of the oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the baps from the oven and let them rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.

INGREDIENTS

  • 575 grams strong white flour
  • 25 grams dried milk powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 25 grams white shortening (vegetable fat)
  • 225 grams Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 25 grams fresh yeast
  • 1 egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
