GHUGNI

Preparation Method :

  • Soak the peas overnight.
  • Boil the soaked peas.
  • Heat a pan, pour oil, add cumin seeds once its splutter, add bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, dry red chilli, green chillies.
  • Then add the onions, fry till golden brown.
  • Add ginger paste, Turmeric powder, chilli powder, jeera powder, five spice powder, coriander powder tamarind paste and salt and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the boiled peas and garam masala.
  • Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Once done, add scraped coconut and cook for 3 more minutes.
  • Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams Dried white or yellow peas
  • 1 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger paste
  • 4 green chillies slitted
  • 1 Red onion, sliced
  • 2 Cardamom pods
  • 1 small stick Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon roasted jeera powder
  • 1 teaspoon dhaniya powder
  • 1 teaspoon tamarind paste
  • 1 dried red chili
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 3 tablespoon cookong oil
  • 3 tablespoon Coconut scrapings
  • 200 ml luke warm water
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar to taste
