GATTE CURRY

Preparation Method :

  • Take gram flour in a bowl. Add curd, mashed potato, salt, red chilli powder turmeric powder, mint powder, garam masala, aniseeds, carom, and green chillies and mix well.
  • Make long rolls (½ inch thick) and boil them in water for 10 minutes. Take out the rolls from water and cut into small pieces (1 inch thick) and keep aside the water for gravy.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Deep fry gatta pieces till they turn golden brown. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, aniseeds. Add onion paste and cook till it turns light brown. Add green chili paste, salt and mix well.
  • Add curd, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and stir continuously to avoid forming lumps.
  • Add the water and allow it to boil for 5 minutes.
  • Add fried gattas and cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add coriander seeds, dry red chilies and sauté for a minute. Put the tadka in the gravy. Mix well.
  • Serve hot with rice or chappati.

INGREDIENTS

For Gatte

  • 100 grams Gram flour
  • 1 tablespoon Curd 
  • ½ Potato (boiled) 
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Red chilli powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon Mint powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon Garam masala 
  • ½ teaspoon Aniseeds 
  • ¼ teaspoon Carom seeds 
  • 1 Green chilly, chopped
  • Peanut Oil for frying

For Gravy

  • 1 teaspoon Onion, paste 
  • ½ teaspoon Green chili paste 
  • ½ teaspoon Aniseeds 
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds 
  • ¼ teaspoon Coriander seeds 
  • 2 Dry red chilies 
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon Red chilli powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric powder 
  • ¼ teaspoon Garam masala 
  • 200 ml Curd 
  • 2 tablespoon Cooking Oil
