SEARED AHI TUNA WITH WASABI SAUCE

Preparation Method :

  • To make the sauce, whisk wasabi, ginger, and soy sauce in a small glass or nonreactive metal bowl until well blended. Let stand at room temperature.
  • Preheat a grill pan over medium heat until very hot. Rub the steaks with the olive oil and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Grill each side for about 2-3 minutes, then hold with tongs to grill the edges for at least 1 minute on each side.
  • Transfer the tuna to a cutting board and slice into ¼ inch crosswise strips.
  • Transfer the strips to two plates and drizzle the wasabi sauce over the top. Garnish with lemon zest.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 teaspoon wasabi paste
  • ¼ teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 75 ml low-sodium soy sauce
  • 175 grams sushi-grade ahi tuna steaks, brought to room temperature before cooking
  • 2 tablespoons light olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper
  • Zest of one lemon, removed with a zester
