HOT WATER PASTRY

Makes :
450 grams

Preparation Time :
1 hour

Cooking Time :
45 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Put the lard in a saucepan with 200ml hot water and heat it gently until the lard melts.
  • Bring to the boil, remove from the heat and beat the seasoned flour to form soft dough.
  • Beat the egg yolk into dough, cover the dough with a damp cloth and leave to rest in a warm place for atleast 15 minutes.
  • Do not allow the dough to cool.
  • Roll out the pastry and pat two-thirds of it into the base and sides of the pie tin.
  • Distribute it evenly to leave space for the pie filling.
  • Use the remaining pastry for the lid.

INGREDIENTS

  • 150 grams lard
  • 350 grams plain flour seasoned with ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
