SWEET DUMPLINGS WITH SYRUP

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Sift the flour, salt, sugar and spice into a bowl. Rub (cut) in the butter and stir in the sultanas (raisins). Beat the egg with the orange juice, add to the flour and mix together.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the mixture into simmering water, then cover tightly and poach for 15 minutes. Remove dumplings with a slotted spoon.
  • To serve, split open, place a pat of butter inside each, then drizzle over golden (corn) or maple syrup.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 gram self-raising flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 teaspoons ground mixed spice 
  • 100 gram butter 
  • 150 gram sultanas 
  • 2 eggs
  • 250 ml orange juice
  • Golden or maple syrup, to serve
