MULLED WINE

Preparation Method :

  • Put the wine, sherry, cloves, cinnamon, allspice and honey into a pan and stir together well.
  • Warm over low heat, stirring, until just starting to simmer, but do not let it boil. Remove from the heat and pour through a strainer. Discard the cloves and cinnamon stick.
  • Return the wine to the pan with the orange and lemon wedges. Warm gently over very low heat, but do not boil. Remove from the heat, pour into heatproof glasses and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 550 ml red wine
  • 25 ml clear honey
  • 50 ml sherry
  • 9 cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 seedless orange, cut into wedges
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
