MARINATED CHICKEN CURRY

Preparation Method :

  • Place the chicken in a large bowl, add the marinade, mix well. Cover; refrigerate for several hours, stirring occasionally. Drain chicken; reserve remaining marinade.
  • Heat the fat in large saucepan; add chicken in batches. Cook over high heat for about 3-5 minutes or until browned all over. Remove chicken from pan.
  • Add in the onion and ginger to the pan; stir over medium heat for about 2 minutes or until onion is soft.
  • Stir in seeds over medium heat for about a minute. Stir in tomato, paste and sugar; bring to boil.
  • Simmer to low flame for about 10-12 minutes or until sauce is thick.
  • Stir in chicken with the reserved marinade and sour cream; bring to boil. Reduce heat; cover, simmer for about 15 minutes or until chicken is tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in garam masala and coriander; mix well.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg chicken 
  • 50 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
  • 500 grams tomatoes, peeled, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 145 grams brown onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
  • 2 teaspoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 100 grams sour cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • 50 grams chopped fresh coriander

Marinade

  • 100 grams plain yogurt  
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  •  teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 5 tablespoon lime juice  
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
