BLACK VELVET CAKES

Preparation Time :

Cooking Time :
50 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C. Butter two mini pudding basins.
  • Put the butter, sugar, egg, flour, ground almonds, bicarbonate of soda, cocoa and Guinness in a mixing bowl. Beat until lump-free.
  • Divide between the moulds, then bake for 20 minutes until risen and a skewer poked in comes out clean.
  • Cool for 15 minutes,, then remove from the moulds and cool completely.
  • Whip the cream with the icing sugar and a splash of champagne, if using, until thick.
  • Spoon a dollop onto the top of each cake and dust with a touch of cocoa.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams Butter
  • 100 grams Light soft brown sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 50 grams Self-raising flour
  • 50 grams Almonds, ground
  • A pinch Bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 75 ml Guinness

The Cream

  • 100 ml Double cream
  • 20 grams Icing sugar
  • A splash Champagne
