Preparation Method :
- Spread one side of each slice of bread with butter and use the cheese and ham to make two sandwiches. Trim off all the crusts.
- Pour the milk on to a plate. Place the flour, seasoned with salt and pepper, on another plate. Beat together the egg and olive oil on a third plate.
- Dip each side of both sandwiches first in the milk, then the flour, then the egg, pressing the edges together securely.
- Heat about 2.5 cm/1 inch of oil in a heavy-based frying pan (skillet). Fry the sandwiches, one at a time, pressing down with a fish slice for 1 minute, then cook for a further 2 minutes.
- Turn and cook other side in the same way.
- Serve immediately with a mixed.

- 4 slices Emmental cheese
- 4 slices cooked ham
- 8 tablespoons milk
- 30 gram plain flour
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 2 eggs
- 4 teaspoons olive oil
- Oil for shallow frying
