COFFEE SPIRALS

Preparation Method :

  • Prepare the dough: combine the yeast, water, egg, sugar, and flour in the bowl of an electric mixer. Knead with the kneading hook on low for 3 minutes.
  • Add the salt and butter and knead for 5 minutes on medium.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured bowl and refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Prepare the filling: combine all the ingredients for the filling in a bowl and mix well.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Thinly roll out the dough on a lightly floured work surface to form a 13 x 8 inch rectangle.
  • Spread the filling evenly across the dough.
  • Roll the dough into a cylinder. (It is helpful to trim 1 inch from each side before rolling.).
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the cylinder into twelve 1 inch slices.
  • Place each slice in a cup in the muffin pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately turn out the spirals onto a work surface. (Turning them over places the darker side on top and is more attractive for serving.).
  • Let the spirals cool for 10 minutes before serving or store for 1 day and briefly reheat before serving.
  • Pour half the milk into each cup.

Dough

  • 1 tablespoon fresh yeast
  • 50 ml water
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 400 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 100 grams butter, softened

Filling

  • 100 grams butter, softened
  • 100 grams packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoons instant coffee
  • Dissolved in 1 tablespoon boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon coffee flavored liqueur
