Preparation Method :

  • Combine butter and golden syrup in large pan, stir over heat until butter is melted, bring to boil; remove from heat, allow to stand 10 minutes.
  • Stir in sifted dry ingredients, milk and peel, cover, stand 2 hours. Knead dough on lightly floured surface until it loses its stickiness.
  • Roll dough out on floured surface. Cut into heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Place shapes on greased oven trays.
  • Make indentations in centre of shapes, fill it with jam. Bake in moderate oven about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on trays.
  • Dip bases of biscuits in combined chocolate and oil, smooth off excess. Place biscuits, jam side down on foil- covered trays; leave until set.

  • 50 grams mixed peel, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons raspberry jam
  • 200 grams dark chocolate, melted
  • 50 grams butter
  • 150 ml golden syrup
  • 250 grams plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 2 teaspoons cooking oil
