COD AND BEAN PIE

Cod and Bean Pie is one of the most special and delectable dishes you can serve at home! This dish can look so dashingly good and it has its mouth-watery taste! Simply follow all instructions pertaining on how this can be prepared. As a result, you can expect that this dish would definitely have its delicious taste!

Preparation Method :

  • Drain the haricot beans, cover with fresh cold water and bring to the boil. Simmer for 2 hours or until tender, then drain.
  • Put the onions into a greased casserole and cover with the fish and strips of bacon. Season to taste and add the herbs.
  • Add a layer of cooked beans and pour in the milk or milk and stock. Top with the potatoes which should overlap and be arranged to form an attractive crust.
  • Bake in a preheated moderate oven for about 40 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked and golden brown.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams haricot beans, soaked overnight in cold water 
  • 4 medium onions, peeled and chopped 
  • 2 kilogram cod or other white fish fillets, skinned and cut into small pieces
  • 8 rashers lean bacon, derinded and cut into strips 
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper 
  • Pinch of dried thyme
  • Pinch of dried marjoram 
  • 1 liter skimmed milk or milk and fish stock, mixed 
  • 1 kilogram potatoes, peeled and very thinly sliced
