CHICKEN AND BEAN LAYER

The chicken and bean layer is mixed with excellent ingredients to solve your chicken cravings. It is loaded with butter, fresh milk, mustard powder, green beans and other seasonings. You can also sprinkle some almonds on its top layer for perfect servings.

30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Put the butter, flour and milk in a saucepan. Heat, whisking continuously, until the sauce thickens, boils and is smooth. Simmer for 2- 3 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat, add the cheese, mustard and peppers, then stir until the cheese has melted.
  • Layer the beans, chicken, apricots and sauce in a 1.7 litre ovenproof serving dish. Sprinkle with almonds.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 180°C (350°F) mark 4 for 25 minutes.
  • Serve with baked potatoes. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams butter
  • 50 grams plain wholemeal flour
  • 600 ml fresh milk
  • 100 grams Red Leicester cheese, grated
  • ½ tablespoon mustard powder
  • ½ tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • 450 grams green beans, cooked
  • 450 grams boned cooked chicken, skinned and chopped
  • 50 grams no-soak dried apricots, chopped
  • 25 grams flaked almonds
