CHICKEN AND BEAN BAKE

Preparation Method :

  • Melt the margarine in a large saucepan and add the flour. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and gradually stir in the milk. Bring to the boil, stirring constantly.
  • Add the chicken, beans and pasta and two-thirds of the cheese. Turn into a well-greased ovenproof dish and top with tomato slices.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and almonds and place under a preheated grill until the cheese has melted and golden.
  • Alternatively, the dish may be left in a cool place until required and then reheated in a preheated moderate oven for 45 minutes.
  • Serve hot. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams margarine
  • 100 grams unbleached white flour
  • 1 liter skimmed milk
  • 500 grams cooked chicken, chopped
  • 750 grams baked beans
  • 200 grams pasta shells, cooked
  • 200 grams Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4 large tomatoes, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons flaked almonds
