RUSSIAN DOUGHNUTS (PONCHIKI)

Preparation Method :

  • Beat the butter, eggs and sugar together.
  • Add the milk and stir it well.
  • Keep 50 grams of flour separately and mix remaining flour with cinnamon into a bowl.
  • Gradually pour liquid and knead into smooth and elastic dough.
  • Roll the dough out to around 6mm thick. Cut out rings of dough using two concentric cutting circles, the larger about 7-8 cm in diameter.
  • Heat the oil in a saucepan.
  • Place the dough rings into the oil when hot with the help of a spoon.
  • Fry till turns lightly golden.
  • Remove it from oil and place it on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
  • Serve it warm.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 eggs
  • 8 tablespoons sugar
  • 50 grams butter
  • 500 ml milk
  • 400 grams plain flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 250 ml Cooking oil for frying
