BAKED FISH IN TAHINI SAUCE

Preparation Time :
2 hours 10 minutes

Cooking Time :
45 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Preheat oven to 200°C / 400°F / Gas Mark 6. Gut, scale and clean fish under running water.
  • Dry, and sprinkle with lemon juice. Chill for 2 hours. Remove to room temperature and rub with salt, pepper and some of the oil. Bake until tender(20 - 25 minutes). While the fish is cooked, saute the onion in the remaining oil.
  • Meanwhile blend the tahini and lemon juice, adding water to achieve a creamy sauce. Remove the fish from the oven, sprinkle with the onions and coat with the tahini sauce.
  • Return to the oven and bake further 10 - 12 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve with rice and salad.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.25 kgs (1 whole white fish, or 4 fillets) 
  • Juice of 2 large lemons 
  • Salt and pepper 
  • 6 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 6 tablespoons sesame seed paste (tahini) 
  • 1 large onion, chopped 
  • Parsley, to garnish
