YAKITORI CHICKEN

Preparation Method :

  • Spear about 3 pieces of chicken and pieces of Japanese green onions alternately on the skewers. Repeat the process with the remainder of the contents.
  • Mix soybean sauce with yakitori sauce, sake, mirin, Japanese chili powder, brown sugar in a pot set over low heat.
  • Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat.
  • Glaze the skewered chickens with the prepared sauce and refrigerate for approximately 20 minutes.
  • Set grilling pan over medium heat until hot, then place the chicken skewers on the pan to grill.
  • Using a brush, continuously glaze the each of chicken skewers with the remaining sauce throughout the grilling process.
  • Grill until fully cooked and both sides are seared.
  • Garnish with red chili pepper strips.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 pieces chicken breast meat, sliced into square, bite-sized pieces
  • 5 stem Japanese green onion, cut into log, 1-inch piece
  • 4 tablespoon Japanese soybean sauce
  • 4 tablespoon yakitori sauce (barbeque sauce)
  • 2 tablespoon sake
  • 2 tablespoon mirin
  • 2 teaspoon Japanese chili powder
  • 4 teaspoon brown sugar
  • Bamboo skewers for skewering the chicken pieces
