TOFU STEAK WITH MISO SAUCE

Cooking Time :
40 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Prepare the miso sauce by dissolving miso paste with dried bonito fish stock, adding mirin, sake, and brown sugar.
  • Stir to blend, then pour into a pan set over medium heat.
  • Stir until the sugar content is completely dissolved then empty into a container and set aside to allow cooling.
  • Cut the tofu into large square cubes and dust in cornstarch. Gently pat so that the cornstarch sticks to the tofu surface.
  • Fry the prepped tofu in hot oil, using medium heat. Fry until golden, remove and place on kitchen paper to drain out the excess oil.
  • Arrange onto a serving plate and pour over miso sauce.
  • Garnish with dried bonito flakes, Japanese green onions and serve with grated carrot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 pack white Japanese tofu
  • 300 grams cornstarch
  • 2 packet dried bonito flakes
  • Shredded Japanese green onions for garnishing
  • Cooking oil for frying

Miso Sauce

  • 5 tablespoon sweet miso paste
  • 5 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoon mirin
  • 5 tablespoon sake
  • 200 grams dried bonito fish stock
