YAKITORI (SKEWERED GRILLED CHICKEN)

Preparation Time :
1 hour 10 minutes

Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • To prepare the marinade, mix together the sake, soy sauce, ginger and sugar in a medium bowl and coat the chicken with the marinade.
  • Marinate the chicken in the refrigerator for about 1 hour (stirring occasionally) for development of flavors.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade.
  • Alternately spear three or four pieces of chicken and green onion on each skewers (wooden stick). Cover it with aluminium foil to prevent charring.
  • Grill it in a pre-heated oven at 200 degrees Celsius until the chicken is cooked (keep brushing the chicken with marinade occasionally).
  • Serve it hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 450 grams boneless, skinless chicken breasts (cut into small cubes)
  • 12 green onions (sliced)

Marinade

  • 60 ml sake
  • 60ml soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Short bamboo skewers
