FRIED TOFU UDON

This is a great Vegetarian dish, the fried Tofu Udon. Not only vegetarian people grow to enjoy this very healthy and very tasty Asian dish, but also all kinds of food connoisseurs and people from all walks end up liking and enjoying it. The mix of Tofu with the diverse Sauces and the diverse Vegetables are what makes it a big hit.

Cooking Time :
40 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Start by cutting the Tofu in ¼ inch thick pieces. Fry the pieces in sizzling hot Oil over medium heat.
  • Keep frying until the Tofu is Golden Brown, then remove it and drain the pieces with a paper towel to remove the excess Oil.
  • Now add the Vegetable Soup and the Dried Bonito Fish Stock to the pot and bring it all again to boil.
  • Add the Hondashi, the Ground Salt, the Brown Sugar, the Soybean Sauce and stir all of it thoroughly to perfectly blend the contents.
  • Keep letting it boil and now sprinkle the Japanese Green Onions. Close the lid and turn off the heat.
  • Now boil the Water and add the Udon Noodles. Once the Noodles are soft that means the Noodles are ready, take the Noodles off the heat and immediately immerse the Noodles in cold Water to prevent them to keep cooking.
  • Then pour the Noodles in a strainer and allow all the Water to drain.
  • Pour the Udon Noodles in a serving bowl and place the Tofu over the Noodles. The dish is ready.
  • As a final touch, garnish the dish with the shredded Green Onions and Chilli Peppers.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1½ Pack of Udon Noodles
  • 3 Sheets of White Tofu (the hard type)
  • 600 ml of Vegetable Soup
  • 600 ml of dried Bonito Fish Stock
  • 100 grams of Japanese Green Onions
  • 3 Tablespoons of Hondashi
  • 3 Tablespoons of Japanese Soybean Sauce
  • 4 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Ground Salt
  • Some shredded Green Onions and Sliced Chilli Peppers for Garnishment
  • Sesame oil for frying
