TURIN WALNUT CAKE

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oven to 180° C/350° F/gas 4. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar until they are pale yellow and creamy.
  • Add vanilla essence, melted butter, walnuts and flour, mix it thoroughly.
  • Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold them into the walnut mixture.
  • Grease a 9 in square cake tin, line the bottom with greaseproof paper and grease the paper.
  • Pour the cake mixture into the tin and bake for about 45 minutes or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean.
  • Remove the cake from the tin , allow it to cool. When cold, sprinkle over icing sugar and serve it with single cream.

  • 6 medium-sized eggs, separated
  • 250 grams sugar
  • 3 drops vanilla essence
  • 50 grams butter, melted
  • 250 grams walnut kernels, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • Icing sugar for sprinkling
  • Single cream, to serve (optional)
