POACHED PEARS WITH HONEY AND CINNAMON

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Put the lemon peel and juice, wine, water, honey, mace, cinnamon, and cloves into a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil.
  • Add the pears and simmer for 10 minutes or until they are soft, turning them occasionally.
  • Remove the pears with a slotted spoon and set aside. Transfer the liquid to a saucepan with a larger surface area.
  • Put the pan over a high heat and boil the liquid rapidly to make rich, thick, sticky syrup.
  • Spoon the syrup over the pears and serve with thick yogurt.

INGREDIENTS

  • Peel and juice of 2 lemons 
  • 400 grams red wine 
  • 400 grams water
  • 10 tablespoons clear honey
  • 2 mace blade
  • 2 cinnamon stick
  • 10 cloves
  • 8 ripe pears, peeled 
  • Thick yogurt, to serve
