BLOOD ORANGE GRANITA

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Using a sharp knife, cut off the top and bottom of the oranges, then cut away the pith and peel.
  • Working over a bowl to catch the juice, cut the segments out of the oranges and squeeze any excess juice from each one.
  • Strain the juice into a saucepan, add the sugar, and heat until it has dissolved.
  • Put the orange flesh in a food processor or blender and whiz until smooth.
  • Mix in the juice and pour into ice cube trays to freeze.
  • When you serve the granita, first chill the serving dishes for a short while in the freezer.
  • To serve, remove the granita ice cubes from the freezer, put them into the food processor or blender, and whiz for 30 seconds.
  • Transfer them to the serving dishes and serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 kg blood oranges 
  • 400 grams sugar
