- Whip the yogurt in a bowl and mix in the garam masala and chilli powder. Set aside.
- Heat the oil and fry the onions until golden brown.
- Add in all the spices and seasonings and with yogurt mixture to the onions, blend it well.
- Stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Stir in the potatoes and the water, cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until the potatoes are cooked.
- Throw in the tomatoes, fresh coriander and green chillies. Simmer for further 2 minutes and serve immediately.
INGREDIENTS
- 5 tablespoons natural yogurt
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 5 tablespoons peanut oil
- 2 large onions, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger root, diced and crushed
- 1 teaspoon crushed garlic
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons ground almonds
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- 1 teaspoon desiccated coconut
- 3 cloves
- 2 whole cardamoms
- 2 whole sticks of cinnamon
- 4 black peppercorns
- 10 small whole new potatoes, scraped
- 200ml water
- 9 cherry tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander
- 2 green chilies, deseeded and chopped if desired
