DOODI AUR CHANAY KI DHAAL KA SALAN

Preparation Method :

  • Boil chana dhaal in the water until soft, drain and set aside. Wash, peel and thinly slice the doodi, cover and set aside.
  • Heat the oil and fry the onions until golden brown. Add the remaining ingredients , lower the heat and fry until the spices are well cooked.
  • Add in the doodi pieces and chana dhaal and stir-fry for about a minute or until the doodi has blended into the spices.
  • Add the water, cover and simmer until the doodi is soft. Serve garnished with more fresh coriander.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams chana dhaal, Pick over and wash the chana dhal
  • 750 ml water
  • 250 grams doodi
  • 50 ml sesame oil 
  • 2 medium onions, peeled and chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3 finely chopped green chillies, deseeded if desired
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice 
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander
