Preparation Method :
- Boil chana dhaal in the water until soft, drain and set aside. Wash, peel and thinly slice the doodi, cover and set aside.
- Heat the oil and fry the onions until golden brown. Add the remaining ingredients , lower the heat and fry until the spices are well cooked.
- Add in the doodi pieces and chana dhaal and stir-fry for about a minute or until the doodi has blended into the spices.
- Add the water, cover and simmer until the doodi is soft. Serve garnished with more fresh coriander.
INGREDIENTS
- 100 grams chana dhaal, Pick over and wash the chana dhal
- 750 ml water
- 250 grams doodi
- 50 ml sesame oil
- 2 medium onions, peeled and chopped
- 2 bay leaves
- 3 finely chopped green chillies, deseeded if desired
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander
